The Community Awareness Flipchart in Uganda

The Faayo Community Heart Health Initiative strives to educate and support underserved communities and patients facing barriers to healthcare and health resources

The newly founded Faayo Community Heart Health Initiative patient organisation in Uganda has been making use of Reach’s Community Awareness Flipchart in their community education activities on rheumatic heart disease (RHD) prevention and control.

In August and September 2022, events were held at schools across Hoima District where Katusiime Christine, founding member and well-known RHD patient advocate, used the Community Awareness Flipchart to educate approximately 120 teachers and learners about strep throat, rheumatic fever, and RHD. Hardcopies of the flipchart were given to schoolteachers for ongoing dissemination.
